Second Place Award, 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon

Frank F. Roselli (Frank and Aurora Roselli) 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon – Made from grapes grown at San Savino Vineyards. This family estate, "Villa San Savino", enjoys a sunny western exposure, magnificent sunsets, gentle and cooling breezes, on the Silverado Trail region of the newly establish Yountville Appellation. The mineral rich, well drained and rocky soil of its origin, completes the "signature terroir" of this Cabernet. The "mini-winery" in the cellar of San Savino was the birthplace of this 1997 vintage which was a "first attempt" at winemaking for its Italian trained, now retired, "chemist," turned home winemaker.

1998 Cabernet Sauvignon – Medium fruit & body, well balanced for drinking “Early” – with good aging potential.

1998 Merlot.
