Carl and Cherie LyleIntroduced to winemaking in 1992 by winemakers and extraordinary friends, Dick and Edie Engelhard of Calistoga, I and Cherie were immediately struck by the parallels between crafting a wine and creating an expressionist work of art. Today, Carl pursues his artistic ambitions by crafting complex and elegant wines as well as making expressive, simply enjoyable wines. Though the many awards his wines have earned suggest some level of artistic success, Carl still feels that there is only one real measure of a wine. "I like it or I don't like it and/or it is good with pizza."
2002 Muscat de Canelli - Los Alamos
Not all wines are made for dinner. Some, like this one, are crafted to be served cool with dessert, enjoyed on the patio or under a shade tree at a picnic. The flamboyant aroma and ripe peach, honey and floral flavors of this award winning dessert wine will help turn any day into a summer say. The harmony of the light acidity and gentle sweetness of this creation offers a delicate balance between complexity and simplicity, simplicity and innocence. Summers and picnics. Fine living!.1999 Zinfandel Russian River Valley
Stylistically crafted to showcase this American heritage grape, this wine has a long finish that distracts one from the hardness of the day by offering a soft, almost port-like presence in the mouth. Dark and rich, this wine soothes the palette with rich notes of ripe, luscious blackberries, cherries and plums. A pour of this wine will grace your glass with soft tannins and vibrant flavors packaged in a smoothness that will complement your finest dinner and hors d'oeuvres.1999 Cabernet Sauvignon Dry Creek Valley A&J Ranch
This wine was crafted to preserve the personality of the vineyard and shows the long finish and complex structure of its heritage. The wine emphasizes the classic aromas and tastes of the terroir of its world famous Dry Creek appellation. Only ten cases were produced of this award winning wine and all are dedicated to the wine grape growing achievements of Al Opatz and his wife Judy, to their support of home winemakers and, especially, to their friendship!
